"Okay, now I'll try it for more than FIVE SECONDS!" Mercutia was not happy with herself at the moment. It looked like she had become overconfident in her skills lately and now she was paying for it. "Stupid, stupid, stupid me." She shook her head. "Maybe I should work on something easi-" she cut herself off. Easy? When had she ever gone with the easy way out? Not on her watch. She was Mercutia Goddamn Capelte and she was going to live up to that if it killed her.
"Right, first... Empty my mind. Wow, an empty mind. Must be relaxing." She stifled any snarky remark about how easy the task would be if she were anyone else. She stood up and eyed the stuffed targets on the wall. It was past time she practiced the art of not thinking. She had had to pick up a few martial arts with her weak physical attacks. She winced; it might be best to practice those next.
'Kick, uppercut, left hoo- NO. No thinking. Bad Merry, bad!' she thought to herself. 'Okay, new try.' She lashed out and ended up with her butt meeting the floor. She growled. 'Okay, start planning the first move, then just go with it.'
Mercutia took in a deep breath and then launched an attack to the side. She followed with a punch to the centre and began to fall into a rhythm. When she felt her thoughts gradually ebb and fall away she didn't let the satisfaction cloud her mind; she summoned her magic and let it take hold.
With the new room to fill her mind, the numbers and images flashed with speed behind her eyes. She was able to see the weak points in the targets before her, their weakest points, and even the required speed and pressure to make them-
"Oops." Mercutia looked at the imploded stuffing and reinforced fabric flying around the room. "So that's the drawback of not thinking when you're being instructed on something at unthinkable speeds." she chuckled. "Unthinkable. Heh."
"Time to try it again! Let's see if we can decrease the warmup time!" she grinned with a predatory glint at the poor innocent targets that were up next.
