He kicked out at the back of her spine, so as the paralyse her rather than to kill her, possibly it would take away the ability for her to walk for a day or so, more likely a few hours, even more likely than that a few minutes, but that was only a small chance, and it would keep the fight from escalating. Muscle contraction was the result Lionel had aimed for, it would cause Mercutia's body to seize up, the fight would be over with no lasting damage.

Mercutia loosened her stance. She had seen him duck under, and as her favourite move was attacking the nerves, she guessed he might do so. Making the muscles and nerves harder to attack by letting herself go limp was by far the easiest defence. She was not expecting the shock. As she let herself slump to the ground, he struck her in the spine, sending a message of pain throughout her body. Desperately, she looked for something to stop it, but before reaching for the very tempting knife she had grounded earlier, her archive kindly reminded her that if she had been holding onto it before he struck it would've worked. Now, it would just blow her up. It used many large, more technical terms, but at the moment she was in pain and all she needed to know was 'If you touch it you die.' Merry cursed. At least the pain was ebbing now. Her arm appeared to be having a localised seizure, but she was fine in the most part. Except for her muscles either moving of their own free will, or contracting tight enough to be extremely uncomfortable. A moment later she felt them all go limp. Another moment of rest and she decided she was so pissed by that point that she could pass out by exhaustion at this point and not care because dammit she needed to punch Lio in the mouth. So with that wonderful thought, she kicked weakly at the back of his kneecap. It wouldn't take much force to bring him down anyway.

Lionel was shocked as he was struck in the back of the kneecap and he collapsed to the ground. He fell on his nose and blood started to flow out. He grunted "Cheap shot!" and attempted to pull himself back to his feet.

Mercutia blinked up at him, and replied, "Nuh-uh." 'Wonderful comeback Merry' she thought at herself, sighing. She closed her eyes and sighed again. "You're bleeding and I can barely move from muscle exhaustion, after the stimuli they just experienced, it's no surprise. Blood was kind of against our rules, and we probably want to check your nose to make sure it isn't broken. Match over?" She rolled over and gave him a pleading look, a tired smile on her face. "I'm done, watching you fall on your face was enough apparently..." she yawned. Enough for what? She really couldn't remember, she just felt so foggy... "In any case, if you want we can light a fire in the gathering area, read, and take a nap. Actually, that sounds really good, I'm doing it anyway." She attempted to peel herself off the ground, and fell to her knees. She looked at them thoughtfully. "Or I can stay here. My muscles are saying 'stay here.' They don't appear to want fire and blankets and couches. With books." She eyed Lio blearily. "Why do my muscles not like good things?" 
It was probably safe to assume that Merry was half asleep by this time.
